THE ORDERS OF ST. JOHN TRUST(OSJCT) OPERATES CARE HOMES offering a wide range of services for both long and short stay. They are located in the counties of Lincolnshire, Oxfordshire, Gloucestershire and Wiltshire. Chilterns Court is located close to the town centre of Henley-on-Thames. The centre has been built as part of a development that includes Townlands Memorial Hospital designed to serve the local community of Henley and surrounding villages.
This is one of many new build care centres RACS have worked on for OSJCT. It is a modern, but homely care centre that has been designed with comfort and well being in mind. They offer long term and respite residential and nursing care as well as residential dementia care and intermediate care for up to 64 residents. We worked closely with the end user, client and main contractor Vinci Construction to create a state-of-the-art kitchen facility.
THE ORDERS OF ST. JOHN TRUST(OSJCT) (OSJCT) appointed Stepnell Construction for this £6.1m design and build contract. A high quality 64 bed specialist dementia care home in Trowbridge. It was built on the site of the previous empty 1970s Paddocks Care Home which was demolished before starting construction work. It offers a wide range of communal facilities including a café, hair salon, shop and cinema. RACS have worked with OSJCT on other care homes and were delighted to receive another invitation to join the project team.
The client’s brief was simple – design the commercial kitchen to the same exacting high standards as other projects successfully completed by RACS and achieve a similar quality finish and performance. Utilising premier manufactures recognised as the market leaders in the catering industry, RACS’ selection of appliances included high output, low energy usage state of the art
prime cooking and refrigeration equipment. The client’s objectives and end result had been achieved.
HAFAN DERWEN CAFE is located within St. David’s Hospital in Carmarthen and is part of Hywel Dda Health Board. The original café facility had been well supported by staff but was dated. Their customer base was falling and therefore revenue was suffering, so a fresh new operation was required. RACS, working in conjunction with Dda Health Board and their appointed construction company, were tasked to create a facility that would achieve all goals.
The brief to RACS was to create a welcoming café space to display / offer healthy snacks and lunches to visitors, patients and staff alike. This had to be accomplished within a relatively small kitchen space and an extremely short time frame. It can now boast an improved range of healthy eating options, superb display with storage facilities, a speedy turnaround of hot and cold snacks and ever increasing customer numbers. Mission accomplished.

RACS was approached to participate in this scheme having been involved with this organisation over a number of years for other projects. This includes Woodcroft Care Home in Trowbridge and Ty Cwm Extra Care Scheme in Merthyr Tydfil.
