RACS have worked in partnership with Finnegan’s for many years providing reactive service support as well as layout designs for new premises. Their continued success is through their commitment to excellence and hard work all year round.
'Finnegan's Extra' in Bryntirion, their latest venture, was no exception, targeting the take-away breakfast market along with new daily specials. An additional self-cooking centre, bain marie and bean-to-cup coffee machine was provided.
In conjunction with Huw Jones of Finnegan’s, we designed the ideal layouts for the retail section, back of house cold storage areas and preparation facilities, all combining to provide a hygienic and efficient operation.
sWANSEA cOFFEE SHOP CAFE AND RESTAURANT
BLUEBELL COFFEE & KITCHEN IN SWANSEA
A family run coffee house / restaurant serving freshly cooked meals from an open plan kitchen. The aim was to serve delicious food and drink using fresh, organic Welsh produce 7 days a week. RACS worked very closely with the owner over many months to ensure every aspect and detail of the scheme was spot-on before work commenced. Planning constraints relating to kitchen ventilation, were a particular challenge to overcome.
Innovative thinking by RACS’ Design Team provided the solution to these constraints. The kitchen layout was designed to ensure complete compliance with the requirements of the Environmental Health Officer and provided effective and efficient work flow patterns to ensure all available space was being fully utilised. In addition an energy conscious range of catering equipment was selected to provide both diversity and efficiencies.

TAKEAWAY KIOSK OR ALTERNATIVE EXTENDED KITCHEN This is a cost-effective way to increase catering capacity without high expense of extending an existing kitchen. With modern cooking appliances, combination ovens in particular, large numbers of meals are easily achievable.
A big challenge faced by caterers is serving large quantities of food in an ever shrinking time frame, very often constrained by limited existing servery space.
This concept of the “LunchBox” was designed for several schools to relieve the pressure off the main dining room servery to offer pre-prepared hot and cold meals.
They are manufactured from fully welded 1.5mm mild steel corrugated side panels and 2.5mm thick mild steel corner posts; protected and finished in any RAL colour.
Installed at either end are lockable personnel doors. An electrically operated security shutter opens the main
serving area. The internal is fitted with Altro hygienic walls and non-slip flooring. They are fully wired to an internal
three or single phase electrical distribution unit. A 30ltr capacity heater provides plenty of hot water for hand
and utensil washing. The unit will require connection to suitable water, drainage, electrical and data services by others. We would recommend the installation of a shelter / canopy for use in inclement weather.

Pembrey Country Park Cafe
YR OSAF CAFE TOURISM VENUE
This was a refurbishment project to develop the park as a major tourism destination. The main visitor centre in the heart of the park serves thousands of campers and day visitors throughout the year and the priority was make this a more enticing and enjoyable destination.
RACS were asked by Carmarthenshire Council to assist with the design of the new café and take-away. Their menu includes breakfasts, lunches and evening meals (as well as a licenced bar) for individuals to large parties.
RACS worked tirelessly with Alliance Leisure Ltd and Carmarthenshire County Council and provided a general plan layout and services schedule for the new venture. There is a bespoke front of house servery with equipment including bar chillers and expresso coffee machines. The main kitchen incorporates premium catering equipment, bespoke stainless steel fabrications, extraction canopy, refrigeration and ware-washing system to enable consistently high quality and quantity of service to be offered swiftly and with ease.
