LINDEN CHURCH TRUST FOCUSES FIRMLY ON THE COMMUNITY. Their mission is to bring people together
and help build good relationships. They welcome people offering a time to talk, pray, eat, learn and celebrate life. They have daily and weekly functions where they bring in food donations and cook for the homeless and others in the community who are struggling to get by. They also have visits from dementia groups brought in from local homes where various entertainment is organised.
The kitchen is a fundamental part of the centre. For a number of years they were getting by with a domestic set up and were in need of a revamp to commercial current standards. RACS were invited in to provided all the necessary guidance on regulations and layout drawings to provide a highly functional new kitchen. It was installed by RACS engineers to a good standard and all involved are pleased with the end result.
Oasis Cardiff is a centre offering an invaluable service to up to 150 visitors daily - typically refugees and asylum seekers. They bring together people and their cultures from around the world to socialise and participate in classes and sessions including art, languages, cooking, sport, day trips and more. They offer free lunch every week day attracting as many as 300 people and The Plate – a scheme offering catering training and experience in a commercial environment. RACS were invited by Richard Eynon and Reynette Roberts (Director) to help expand their catering facilities due to increasing demand.
We worked with the catering team towards a proposal which is now in place as a reality. The have more space along with updated equipment for their wash up, food storage/refrigeration, food preparation and cooking. Their demonstration areas provide greater efficiency to serve lunch and a structured environment to offer training.

PENPARCAU COMMUNITY FORUM LTD instigated plans for significant additions to the existing community centre and boxing club. This was to be built next to the park in Penparcau. They successfully secured £150,000 from the People’s Health Trust and £490,000 from the Welsh Government. The new development was incorporated around the existing boxing club and fitness room.
The designs included a “community heritage café” training/education room, training kitchen, community office and “heritage exhibition area”. RACS worked with Bryn Jones, Co-ordinator for Penparcau Community Forum Ltd and the appointed contractor TAD Builders to successfully provide a café kitchen and training kitchen the local community would be proud of.
CARMARTHENSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL invested almost half a million pounds to reinvigorate its leisure provision in a bid to get more children and adults more active.
Carmarthen Leisure Centre’s under-utilised gymnastics hall was transformed into an inspiring, 3-tier, 210 square metre children’s play area which is supported by a new café and lounge area. RACS were involved from the off-set to design and install an attractive, compact servery facility where parents can gather to supervise their children whilst enjoying a range of high quality snacks and beverages.
Julia Goddard, Senior Business Development Manager and project lead at Alliance Leisure concludes: “This project has given the leisure centre a new lease of life and made leisure services available to new audiences who were otherwise disengaged. The play area in particular adds a whole new dimension to the offering. In addition
to providing a safe, secure space for children to play and explore, it also offers an attractive space for people to
meet and socialise.”
